Mothering Sunday (in the UK)
In contrast to Mother's Day, Mothering Sunday is not a celebration of motherhood, but a synonym of Laetare Sunday. During the sixteenth century, people returned to their "mother church" for a service to be held on the fourth Sunday of Lent. This was either a large local church, or more often the nearest Cathedral. Anyone who did this was commonly said to have gone 'a-mothering' although whether this preceded the term Mothering Sunday is unclear. It was often the only time that whole families could gather together, if prevented by conflicting working hours.
The other names attributed to this festival include Simnel Sunday, Refreshment Sunday and Rose Sunday. This is due to the practice of baking Simnel cakes to celebrate the reuniting of families during the austerity of Lent. Because there is traditionally a lightening of Lenten vows on this particular Sunday in celebration of the fellowship of family and church, the lesser-used label of Refreshment Sunday is also used, although rarely today (according to Wikipedia)

GPS positioning of my photos...
With the new Nikon D200, I'll be able to easily position my pictures geographically (as it automatically tags each picture with a Longitude/Latitude metadata). Soon you'll see them on GoogleEarth, for now you can see some at http://www.panoramio.com/map/?user=283908

New Lens: Nikon 70-200mm VR
Wohooo, just got this professional piece of glass (on eBay); Nikon has thrown in virtually every possible feature with this new lens, resulting in an alphabetic menagerie added to its official name. This is definitly opening a new chapter in my photography adventure book (I'm specially looking forward to the amazing Bokeh) !
Thanks Marvin, for receiving and unboxing it for me (see his pics at http://picasaweb.google.com/mrking2/Unboxing).

Daryl's New Camera: Nikon D200
In light of some special events this summer, I got myself the Nikon D200. Combined with my current lenses (18-200mm f/3.5, 17-50mm F/2 & 70-200 f/2 VR), that should be just right ! I debaded a lot between the D80 and the D200, but what won me over was the Magnesium-Allow weather-resistant body (as opposed to Plastic), the 3D Metering with object tracking, the GPS & WiFi support, 5 pictures-per-second, 0.15sec startup time, dedicated buttons for everything (as opposed to shuffling in the LCD menu), extended bracketing features, extended wireless iTTL control, and the 4-channel image processor similar to the D2x. See http://www.nikondigital.com/main.html?page=d200 and http://www.nikon-euro.com/D200/latin/main.php for an interactive description of the camera.
For my Canon friends, it's a bit higher in specs to the Canon EOS 30D (probably more comparable to the EOS 5D), and leaves the the Rebel XTi / EOS 400D in the dust... (for more about Canon vs. Nikon, see http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/d200-vs-canon.htm, and http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos30d/page23.asp). The closest comparaison is probably the Fujifilm FinePix S5 Pro
